The best way to reduce the risk of an attic fire is through regular inspections. Inspect your attic for rodent damage, faulty or loose wiring, and flammable materials. Keep flammable materials like cardboard boxes, plastic decorations, and old papers in designated areas that aren’t within reach of electric outlets or lights. Installing a smoke detector rated for attics (or interconnected throughout the home) is an inexpensive investment that can greatly increase your chances of early detection and minimize fire hazards.
